![]() The Stalker is a rather large creature, possessing an elongated, smooth body with smooth skin. Occasionally, Stalkers can be found swimming into the Safe Shallows while chasing the player or other small fauna. Still when reverting their AI, the developers did decrease the Seamoth's resistance against attacks.ĮDIT: Rather than hard, it was annoying for the nerves to hear their roars constantly, even though they were easy to dodge. The Stalker is an aggressive Fauna species mostly found populating the Kelp Forest, and occasionally the Crash Zone. It was ridiculously hard doing anything outside the Safe Shallows. Honestly the issue was that the hostile creatures were way too much aggro all the time, even when you were not in their line of sight. Personally, I loved the more dangerous creatures (and said so at the time), but I'm a veteran PC gamer and would welcome more challenge from creatures in the game, especially if you had to outsmart them (as you suggest) rather than outfight them. Later, the devs decided to go for an ESRB 10+ rating and an 11-year-old kid may not have the skills required to dodge or avoid even the non-"Dangerous" creatures. This caused a lot of pushback from people who felt it didn't fit well with the "no deadly weapons" approach the devs were pursuing. Originally posted by Cougarific:The only problem I see with this is that in the original game's early access period the game went through a "Dangerous Creatures" period where the Devs deliberately ramped creature aggressiveness and persistence WAY up. PS: Looking forward to all the glorious content, thats to come :) ![]() Like say you're passing through a cave, but there are some Bone Sharks in the way: If you try to swim through, they could (should?) kill you easily, unless you distract them with a flare. It'd be awesome, if you could expand on these sort of interactions with your environement and maybe make some of them necessary. I've noticed some clues in the Data Bank Entries - like that the Bone Shark may be distracted by light sources - but in the current state of the Base Game and Below Zero I've never really had the need, to try anything like that. Fauna is the term for animals, in this case, the animals of Planet 4546B. Currently you can pretty much outsmart any hostile creatures, by simply swimming left or right, so they won't be able to reach you. I think subnautica is the perfect game, to not have any real combat, but instead rely on other concepts. This is most likely due to their own skin being adapted to the climates of the Inactive Lava Zone and Lava Lakes.First off, I'd like to say, that I love Below Zero so far! It's just as awesome, as the base game, eventhough we've only seen the introduction section :D Lava Lizards are resistant to the effects of the Thermoblade, and thus the tool is useless against them. ![]() If the player has Lava Larvae on their vehicle, sometimes the Lava Lizard will eat the Lava Larvae off the aforementioned vehicle without harming it. The projectile attack will cook any edible fish if it kills them. A single lava chunk shot will cause the Warper to teleport away. Lava Lizards are incredibly hostile towards Warpers and will break off pursuit of the player to engage a Warper. It can also ram the player after firing the projectile. Swimming through lava will also grant it the ability to spit a cooled chunk of lava at the player as a projectile attack. It can be broken using the knife or the Repulsion Cannon. I think the hostility of the creatures are good as they are at the moment: theyre hostile enough to punish you for making mistakes but easy enough to avoid. The Lava Lizard can swim through lava, creating a shell of hardened lava on their back which acts as armor. Their bodies are heavily scarred which may imply fierce battling within the Lava Lizard species. Just before the tail fin are a pair of small green fin-like structures, each bearing a single claw. The tail fin appears very similar, with three long spike-tipped structures connected by pink webbing. It has two squat, three-digit limbs, each digit ending with a long claw and connected by pink webbing. The skin on the creature's dorsal side is scaled, pale green and spotted with darker green patches, whilst the ventral side appears smoother, and beige-colored. Many scars can be seen around the eyes and head, as well as a few on its underbelly, presumably from battling other Lava Lizards for territory. The teeth are sharp, with sixteen pairs, the front two pairs being modified into large protruding teeth that point forwards. ![]() The top and bottom lips are both split which allows the mouth to open to a greater size. It has two silver eyes set in dark-pink sockets. The Lava Lizard is a large, densely built creature with scaly skin.
